- Golden Dolphin ( United States): The tanker exploded and sank 750 nautical miles (1,390 km) east of Bermuda with the loss of nine crew. Fourteen survivors were rescued by Norrland ( Sweden).[3]

Sharelga ( Republic of Ireland): The trawler was sunk when her nets were caught by submarine ( Royal Navy) whose identity was not disclosed. All five crew survived.[4][5]
